Regarding On The Globe

Regarding On The Globe, this is mostly a place where I can dump my writings in English. This place will be used to share my world view; those writings could be anything, from film critics to think pieces, poetry and prose, anything goes. Now that this has been cleared, let me explain what I – mostly – write about.

My name is Felipe Novoa and I’m studying journalism in a private university in sunny/violent Rio de Janeiro. I’m 23 years old, which places me precisely in between the mostly despised Millennials and the utterly misunderstood Gen Z. I have an associate degree on graphic design and substantial work experience on photography, translation, and subtitle setting. It all means that I’m obsessed with communication and visual media, which fortunately is the area that I would like to work on.

Right now, I work as a film critic for a local newspaper focused on cultural journalism and I study a lot. On my free time I watch any movie that may fall on my lap, except horror, I daydream about a happy life abroad and the deposition of the fascistic government who rules Brazil right now. I used to read more, but I don’t have much time with my classes and everything, but I would like to finish the giant pile of secondhand books that is menacingly growing on my bedroom.

And now, for something completely different, I’m a passionate socialist, with anarcho primitivist tendencies. I’m not a crazy person who wants to move back into the stone age, but I believe that the world would be much better if we stopped consuming like there’s no tomorrow. We, collectively as humans, live in a single planet, where everything is interconnected, and every choice affects our neighbors. There is no way to experience life without leaving an indelible footprint on Earth.

This is mostly what I am and what I believe in, so, it could be worse. If you’re still here, thanks for reading this minor introduction and rant.
